Chess is a board game. The chessboard is a square composed of another 64 squares alternately light and dark. There are two sets of identical pieces. The player with white pieces, as white. And the black pieces as black. Each set has six varieties of chessmen. The king, queen, knights, rook, bishops, and the pawns. Each has different moves and special powers. Some of the pieces move forward, backward, sideways, or diagonally. Others move one, two, or three steps or to end of the board. For beginners, it maybe confusing. But more games and practice will eventually get through the haphazard moves. The rules are simple and easy to understand. Chess is taught in some schools and tournaments are held. Beside, thousands of other chess competitions , matches, festivals held around the world every year which caters of all levels, from beginners to experts. It is promoted as a mind sport.
